Complete Glossary

Adoption: Ceremony that takes place when a pup’s pack has died and there are no family members to take care of the pup. When a pup is adopted by another pack, they lose their former pack name and take the pack name of the adopted family.

Airluts: Bird-Taur.

Alpha: Leader of a tribe of Silverbacks.

alpha: Strongest member of a litter of Silverbacks. Determined by which pup opens their eyes first, until the pups can challenge one another, when one will assert their dominance over their siblings. It is also a term used among the Watchers and Hunters for the leader of their five-male packs.

Alpha Father: Silverback god.
 

Alpha Hunter: Typically the position of Alpha’s mate, oversees the planning and execution of the hunts for the tribe.

Alpha-Taur: 
Silverback ruler of all Taurs.

Arkem: Spider-Taur.

Banshee Tundra: Tundra at the northernmost point of the continent, bordered by the Berg Maker in the north and the Ice Kraggs to the south.

Barchus: Pack name of the runt that was added to the hunting pack of Terrabyss’ litter.
 

Bear-Shit: Common Silverback curse. 

Beast-Back: Typically have fur, scales, or feathers that cover their whole body, with few humanoid features. 

Beast-Speech: Common language between all Taurs, but with different accents and dialects. 

Belly-Greeter: A coward.

Berg Maker: Northern ocean.

Boofilou: A tribe from the Mino clan that lives in the Endless Plains.
 

Boulder: Well-sized stone that is kept near the Shaman’s den and used to measure weights.

Branch Pens: Cages that hang down from the sequoia branches in the southeast of Kyron, outside the commune.

Campo: 
 (Singular: Campos) Ozar settlements that run along the east and northern parts of the Green Wall. Become smaller and less advanced the further north one travels, and are considered simple in comparison to the Daunkirk settlements along the coast.

Campos Ursyss: The last Ozar Campos in the north and considered the end of civilization before the human settlement of Izwin located in the Banshee Tundra.
 It has two permanent buildings: Middle Market and the Tavern.

Cana: Tallest Silverback tribe.​


Caphri: The Daunkirk capital along the west coast of the Green Wall. A pier city built out into the ocean.

 
Cen: Horse-Taur (Centaur).

Charred Cliffs: Cliffs between the high desert and ocean at the bottom of the Division Mountains.


Circler: A common toy that is essentially a wooden spinning top.​

Clipping: A skill that the Daunkirk Madha learned how to perform and taught to the Ozar druids. Used to block a mage’s ability to understand sigils, and to block a druid’s ability to tap into ley lines.

Compani: Gathering place where both market and government business are conducted in a Rodentia Refuge. 

Corm: A tribe from the Mino clan who are herders of mammoth out in the Banshee Tundra. Also described as Yak-Taur.

 
Corvel: Crow-Taurs of the Airlut clan.

Council of Elders: The council that helps guide the Alpha’s decisions within the Mauler tribe. 

Cynwyn: The river that runs east to west across the Green Wall.

Darmin: Beaver-Taurs.

Daunkirks: Deer-Taurs.

Division Mountains: Mountain range dividing the continent of Loog Turra from north to south.

Dotaur: Bipedal taurs.

Druids: The magic users of the Ozar tribes, as well as other Taur clans. 

Ebonhuw: Arkem city built by the tribe known as Spilkot in the Charred Cliffs, located somewhere in the Ember Sands. It is supposedly a beautiful and rich city, paved with gold in the day that magically transforms into silver at night. 

Eclupse: Silverback tribe known for their stealth.

Ember Sands: Massive high desert to the south.

Endless Plains: Massive flatland south of the Warm Wood. 

Evems: Tribe of Arkems that live in the northern parts of the Green Wall and in other parts. They are warlike and worshippers of Ploter, the god of disease and poison. They were cast out of Ebonhuw for their violent and unsanitary practices. 

Fillany: Squirrel-Taurs, Beast-Back with thick, fluffy tails that like to live in trees.

Fist: Silverback unit of five fighters. 

Friggi: Gathering place of the Hax tribe. Their only communal area, housing their ravens for communication and a small market.

Furless: Beast-Speech term for Humans.

Gathering: Mauler communal grounds.

Guards: A position created by Grimmis and continued by succeeding Alphas. Reserved for female Maulers.

Gorgel: Bat-Taur. 

Halfling: Related to Dwarves, but live above ground. 

Harpyn: A Taur that has a humanoid torso, including the arms and hands. Usually, the flesh is still tougher than human skin but not covered by fur, scales, or feathers. 

Harris: Hare-Taurs that live mostly underground.

Hax: Ozar tribe that lives in the Banshee Tundra. The name translates to 'Forgotten.' 

He-Lah: Prison plane of existence.

Hoarding: A common game played among the Ozars. Each player starts with five polished stones. Players take turns stacking a stone atop a single tower. The player that places a stone when the tower collapses is out of the game. 

Honcho: The title given to the leader of a Campo. 

Howler Grove: The former domain of the Silverbacks. It looks somewhat like a wolf howling, and is outlined by the Ryndell and Cynwyn rivers. 

Hunch: All Silverbacks have a slight hunch to their backs, mainly because of their large shoulder muscles which are used when they run on all fours. Among the Maulers, the hunch is considered prized and is seen as a sign of virility and connected to ambition. 

Hunt: Silverback tradition to allow pups to ascend to adulthood. If they successfully complete a kill, they will become adults, or must try again the following year. 

Ice Kraggs: Snowy mountain range that separates the Banshee Tundra from the Green Wall in the north. 

Invasion Council: The war council that is established separately to the council of elders. It consists of Dio, Luna, Terrabyss, Numa, Maxyss, and Suskyss. Eventually, Rymmall is added. 

Kanabo: The weapon that Terrabyss uses. Shorter than traditional kanabos, it is only about the length of his arm. It is made of sequoia and has inch-long iron spikes attached to metal bands that circle the weapon. 

Kyron: The commune that is home to some of the Eclupse in the northeast, near the Ice Kraggs.

Lobu: Dominant Silverback tribe, naming all Silverbacks for their grey-marked coats. 

Lone Wolf: A title given to a Silverback when they are exiled. It is also used to refer to a single survivor of a pack that has not pledged to any Alpha. 

Loog Turra: The largest continent on the planet of Sarm. 

Lounging: A Silverback custom that is reinstated by Ozars. Essentially, a siesta. 

Lue: Distance of an average, single lunge. 

Madha: The title given to the arcane practitioners of the Daunkirks. 

Mahuer (Ozar): The dominant Bear-Taur tribe. Translates to 'Great.' 

Mahuer (Silverback): A common Beast-Speech term for ‘Great’. It is used among the Silverbacks to refer to the first in a litter to take a mate and start a family.  


Mahzar: A term of endearment and a title which means Great Ozar.

Maiden's Hair: Sea around the Maiden Islands.

Materimony: Official union between two Taurs of the same clan. 

Mauler: Silverback tribe known for their strength, but also small numbers.

Mino: Bovine-Taur (Minotaur).

Moozer: Mouse-Taurs that often live in servitude to Ozars as they are too weak to protect themselves. 

Mother Bear: Ozar god. 

Mutts: Clan of Canine-Taurs that are not Wolf-Taurs, considered the “sixth” Silverback tribe. 

My Skull: A popular game played at all Mauler events. It consists of as many players as want to play, but needs at least two. The players start in the middle of a circular area and attempt to get a skull across the circle’s boundary, although it is contested if it can be any boundary or the furthest from the player’s position when they get the skull. When a player is tackled, they must release the skull and form a huddle around it. The skull can also be stripped out of one player’s hands by another, at which point no huddle is formed. After a point is scored, the skull is reset to the middle of the circle and the game begins anew. There can either be point totals or the game can be played until everyone is too exhausted to play. Recently, new rules have been added such as being able to kick the skull over the boundary for a single point and running over the line is now worth two points. 

Needle Arms:
 A plant construct used by druids. They are humanoid in stature and have thorn-like fingers as well as hard, bark-like skin. 

Norrus: The physically smallest Ozar tribe. Translates to 'Second.' 

Ozar: Clan of Bear-Taurs. 

Palgus: A derogatory term that means "lackey."

Paw and Ear Method: An Eclupse tradition that was implemented when the Ozars conquered the Eclupse. A way of determining if a juvenile is ready to become an adult. 

Pellet: A vulgar Taur swear that means herbivore excrement.

Primjawl: Ape-Taur.

 
Puradean: Creator of all known planes of existence.

Quataur: Quadrupedal taurs.

Ramsyn: Sheep-Taurs.

Rindell: The river that starts at the Ice Kraggs in the north and then cuts to the south, intersecting with the Cynwyn and continuing into the Warm Wood. 

Rodentia: Clan name for all Rodent-Taurs. 

Sarm: Planet in this Universe. 

Scouts: Female Mauler military division that keeps communication with the outer and inner grove. Also used for monitoring the outer grove for enemies and keep intelligence on other Taur tribes within and around the grove. 

Selee: Seal-Taur.
 
Shaman: The magic users of the Silverbacks and the Maulers, who was usually also the Alpha.

Star Flies: Insects that only come out at night. 

Spilkot: Tribe in the Arkem clan that live in the Ember Sands. They have a very advanced and secretive society. 

Tamess: A Norrus family that Ferda recruits. 

The Hollow: The dug-out roots of a sequoia that Skoff calls home.

Thessaul: An Eclupse commune to the southeast of Kyron. 

Triumph Festival: Ozar celebration of their victories over the Silverbacks and Daunkirks. 

Varggs: Smallest Silverback tribe known for their speed.

Verdegren: Jungle to the far south of the continent. 

Watchers: Five-male teams that guard the canyon pass between the Green Wall and the Grove.

Wendovi-Kanul: Fiendish name for Silverbacks.

What Not To Dos: A list of appropriate behavior and activities for the winter months in Campos Ursyss.
   
• To preserve food stores, no gatherings (official meetings) were to be held
     
• To preserve rest, no mingling (visits between friends) was to happen outside of one’s yurt
     
• To preserve serenity, social interactions (no communal gatherings) were to be short and                            inside one’s yurt
     
• To preserve resources, no hunts were to take place
    
• To preserve security, no war campaigns were to happen
 

Whesscire: Halfling settlement in the foothills of the Division Mountains, near the Endless Plains on the western side. 
 
Wolf-Shit: Common Ozar curse. 

Yellow Rest: Former lookout point for the Ozars.
